Company History
The Word of the Founder
The beginnings of Lingua Centrum were exciting, idealistic, unpredictable and unrepeatable. In 1990, no one knew what “doing business” was about, and I, as a recent graduate of the Department of English and American Studies at the Olomouc Palacky University, did not know it either. I only intuitively sensed that in order for a company to survive on the market in the long run, its existence must be beneficial not only for the clients, but also for its employees and owners. We have been following this idea up to now. In building a successful language school, you must also be lucky and choose the best co-workers and make the right decisions at key moments.
Our biggest advantage is that we have always had a linguist in charge of the school. It is not that usual. I like to compare it to a situation that has long been valid in the automotive industry. For many years, German car companies were managed by technicians, while American car companies were managed by businessmen. We probably agree that the German cars surpassed the American ones. We are the best because we are primarily linguists, not businessmen or investors.

Company Development
The Lingua Centrum language school was founded in 1990 by Mgr. Pavel Pospíšil as one of the first private language schools in the Czech Republic.
We are the oldest certified language school and at the same time a founding member of the Association of Language Schools. Since 1994 you can find us in the list of accredited schools of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. Since the foundation, our vision has been represented by reliable, linguist proven methods and effective teaching and that certainly helped us to gain the accreditation. In 2000 we launched the Fast Track concept – Learn English 5 times faster, which gets the students speak in five weeks in the same way as a regular one-year study.
Between 2009 and 2011, we achieved another important goal – we became a preparation and examination centre for all important language exams – ECL, City&Guilds and Cambridge English. Thanks to our openness to new technologies, we have been conducting online teaching since 2014 as a full-fledged alternative to full-time teaching. This gives us unlimited opportunities to accommodate even those students who do not have access to full-time courses or wish to study an exotic language, or who want to be taught by a native speaker in places where it would not otherwise be possible.
In 2016, we succeeded in obtaining the Helen Doron English license, and thanks to this world-famous teaching method, we opened up new possibilities for our youngest students as well.
Thousand. For us, the magic number of 2019. In that year, our basis of lecturers welcomed its thousandth member. We have thus achieved coverage of the entire Czech Republic by our own lecturers who teach more than 25 world languages. Since this year, things have taken a quick turn and thanks to the satisfaction of our students and corporate clients, we have been able to open several more regular branches. The last, so far in 2024, was the 13th branch in Šumperk. Thanks to our team of real professionals, we believe that it is far from the last.
